In an article about Bruce Chatwin, the author of In Patagonia, Paul Theroux says that the late writer "adored Borges." I have recently read a short-story by Chatwin, "The Estate of Maximilian Tod;" it almost reads as a parody of Borges; it exaggerates Borges's penchant for lists and enumerations and for arcane knowledge. The tone of the story feels very Borgean too. The story is included in a collection titled Anatomy of Restlesness, recently published by Picador.
