A band hailing from Austin,
Texas, Ed Hall released several CDs of bizarre and often humorous music in the tradition
of their mentors, the Butthole Surfers. They also made an appearance in Richard
Linklater's great film, Slacker. As to their Pynchon influence,
"Steve" writes to Spermatikos Logos:
The early-nineties rock band "Ed Hall" were pretty influenced by Pynchon ...
admitting as much in interviews. Their lyrics were dense, smart, and -- in their later
albums -- drenched in Gnostic themes. Their album Glory Hole even has a song
on it called "Rachel Hourglass" (sic), and another called "Roger
Mexico"!
Spermatikos Logos would
appreciate any more details on this band or any Pynchon relationship. Please feel free to
email us!
